CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Muay Thai classes at North Shore Muay Thai Academy teach our unique striking system which was developed through years of competition & teaching experience. It combines Western Boxing footwork and punching, with traditional Muay Thai kicks, knees, elbows, and clinch, with Dutch Style hand and leg combinations, offering a perfect marriage of these three stand up disciplines.

It is arguably one of the most effective training systems for Muay Thai, bringing Thai boxing to both recreational athletes and professional fighters producing either/both dedicated students who challenge themselves every day, or competitive fighters.

BEGINNER TRACK:

 

MUAY THAI INTRO (TUE/WED 6:00PM- 7:00PM)

The Fundamental classes are the entrance way to our Traditional Muay Thai & Dutch Kickboxing program. You’ll learn all your basics here so you can safely step into the next level. Even though you’ll be learning fundamentals, these classes are still very physically demanding and are meant to prepare you for what is to come.

Stance, Footwork, Basic Punches, Kicks, Knees, Elbows , Shadow Boxing, Partner Back & Forth Techniques

PAD THAI (MON/THURS 6:00PM-7:00PM)

This is a unique technique based strength and endurance combatics class. We use focus mitts, kick shields and traditional Thai Pads. This class concentrates on proper target holding techniques to maximize and unlock a students full potential. Working with partners students learn proper target holding with various pieces of training targets to catch their partners properly executed techniques.

HEAVY BAG CONDITIONING (MON/WED 7:00PM-8:00PM)

Among the first program of its kind and one of the best workouts in the area! Learn REAL kickboxing techniques and combinations, and put it together with the swagger of a professional prize fighter, with none of the bruises. One hour of high-intensity kickboxing on heavy bags with body weight exercises and abdominal training will push you to your limits.

 

INTER/ADV TRACK:

HEAVY BAG CONDITIONING (MON/WED 7:00pm-8:00pm)

DRILLS AND SKILLS (TUES/THURS 7:00PM-8:00PM) 

Our main program for those interested in Kickboxing, be it recreational or professional. An intelligent system that has laid the very foundations of the many champions we have trained and that are currently on our roster. We focus on Traditional Muay Thai & “Dutch Style” kickboxing techniques, pad & target holding and partner drilling.

CLINCH CLASS (MON/WED 8:00PM-8:30PM)

Here you'll learn the art of clinching. Clinch work is the inside fighting range where you control the head, arms and sometimes the body to strike with your knees and elbows. Clinch techniques are also used to off-balance your opponent with trips or throws. This class will focus on lots of knees, positioning, sweeps and elbow work employing the cardio and stabilizing strength needed to be successful at clinch work.

ADVANCED FIGHTER TRAINING (TUES/THURS 8:00PM-8:30PM) *Invite Only

This is our most demanding class. Invite Only! Fighters & Advanced Practitioners Only! This program is meant for students that want to reach their highest potentials as students or become amateur/pro fighters. We focus on Traditional Muay Thai & Dutch Style kickboxing techniques in live energy situations, advanced sparring drills, sparring & calisthenics. You must get the head nod from a coach to attend this level of training. Less talking – WAY more rocking!
